Cycling challenge for Prostate cancer awareness
Prostate cancer is now the third deadliest form of cancer in the UK, causing more deaths, than to those suffering from breast cancer, with only half as much money being spent on research into the disease, whilst sadly the number of men dying from prostate cancer continues to rise.
W Bro John MacCabe of Euphrates Lodge No. 212 will be undertaking a mammoth set of cycle rides during the summer to raise money for research into this disease. The rides will take place between the 1st June and 4th August and are;
- Painters Trail Cycle Challenge
- London Football to Amsterdam (Prostate Cancer UK event) (Olympic Stadium to Ajax Stadium) via Harwich and the Hook of Holland
- Le Grand Depart – follows the first stage of the 2019 Tour de France (Prostate Cancer UK event)
- Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100
Having a friend who has been affected by this disease gave John the motivation to go for the ride once again this year. Since 2013 John has raised £18,500 for various charities including Prostate Cancer UK and says, “I will be cycling approximately 500 miles over the period and I hope to raise £7,500 in support of the charity.”
